In eastern Colorado, rural ambulance services find themselves battling the usual issues of large service areas and scattered crews; the current pandemic has only made response times longer and more difficult.

While the number of COVID positive patients in rural parts of the state is low, crews transporting a COVID-19 patient now have to clean and disinfect the entire ambulance after transport, putting the vehicle out of commission and hampering an already strained system.
