Anthem Inc., the largest for-profit managed health care company in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, announced it will no longer offer plans through the government-run health insurance exchange in rural Nevada counties.

Prominence Health Plan also recently announced it will pull out of the state entirely.

An estimated 8,050 Nevadans will lose coverage on Jan. 1 when Anthem and Prominence Health Plan leave. The exchange will remain open in Clark, Washoe and Nye counties.
