Utah Governor Gary Herbert is reaching out after a report found his state has the highest rate of uninsured Hispanic children in the United States.

The Georgetown Center for Children and Families and the National Council of La Raza finds that 23.4 percent of Hispanic children in Utah are uninsured — that’s nearly two and a half times the national rate.

Herbert is speaking out with local nonprofit group Take Care Utah to try and raise that number by encouraging families to look into that state’s Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP.
